Y30 rust inhibitor, made of oleoyl sarcosine, serves as a metal corrosion inhibitor and rust-preventing additive for both hydrophobic and hydrophilic metalworking fluids. It forms a dense monomolecular layer on the metal surface through chemical adsorption, allowing metalworking fluids to act as a protective layer even at low concentrations. Y30 rust inhibitor is hydrophobic in its acidic state. Its amphiphilic properties can be activated by neutralizing with MEA, TEA, long-chain fatty amines, KOH, or NaOH.
Y30 is also a highly efficient oil-based rust inhibitor, outperforming barium petroleum sulfonate in various accelerated or simulated corrosion tests. It can pass the ASTMD665 dynamic immersion test at a concentration of just 0.01%. Additionally, N-oleoyl sarcosine has other notable features, such as a thermal decomposition temperature above 220°C, nearly 100°C higher than dodecenyl succinic acid. It is a green, ash-free corrosion inhibitor and an excellent surfactant, non-toxic to humans.
