LR-2850 is a solvent-free, secondary amine-functional polyaspartic resin engineered for high-performance coating and adhesive systems. Characterized by its exceptionally low viscosity and bicycloaliphatic structure, it serves as a reactive backbone for aliphatic polyisocyanates.
This resin is specifically developed to solve the challenges of high-build formulations where excellent substrate wetting and rapid return-to-service are required. It is a critical component for technical formulators in the wind energy, aerospace, and heavy-duty anti-corrosion sectors.
Technical and R&D personnel select LR-2850 based on the following verified performance metrics:
With a viscosity range of 50-300 mPa·s (@ 25°C), LR-2850 provides superior flow and leveling. This allows for the formulation of 100% solid-content coatings that maintain high workability without the need for additional solvents or thinners.
When cross-linked with HDI trimers, LR-2850 achieves a touch-dry state within 60 minutes. Unlike traditional fast-curing resins, the cured film demonstrates superior mechanical resilience and remains crack-free at temperatures as low as -35°C.
LR-2850 offers industry-leading durability. After 4,000 hours of QUV-A testing, the resin retains over 95% of its original physical properties, ensuring long-term color stability and resistance to chalking in extreme outdoor environments.
The resin yields films with a pencil hardness of up to 2H and outstanding wear resistance (Taber Abrasion loss ≤ 20 mg at 500 cycles/750g load).
Every batch of LR-2850 is synthesized to meet standardized industrial benchmarks:

The ultra-low viscosity and unique molecular architecture of LR-2850 polyaspartic resin make it a preferred matrix for high-build systems where penetration and flow are critical:
Renewable Energy (Wind Power): Ideally suited for wind turbine blade protection. It is used in the formulation of high-performance gel coats, specialized putties, and protective topcoats that must withstand high UV exposure and leading-edge erosion.
Heavy-Duty Anti-Corrosion: Designed for high-solids protective coatings on steel structures and petroleum pipelines. It ensures excellent substrate wetting and creates a dense barrier against corrosive ions.
Resilient Flooring Systems: Optimized for solvent-free flooring in industrial workshops, residential garages, and sports surfaces (e.g., basketball courts). It provides a high-gloss finish with the flexibility to bridge micro-cracks.
Adhesives & Potting Compounds: Due to its exceptional flow characteristics, LR-2850 is an excellent choice for solvent-free potting materials and high-strength industrial adhesive formulations requiring rapid curing.
Landscape & Specialty Coatings: Provides a durable, weather-resistant protective layer for foam-based sculptures and landscape architectural features.
For R&D specialists, LR-2850 acts as a highly adaptable reactive component:
Adjustable Pot Life: It can be used as a standalone resin or blended with amine-functional models such as LR-1520 or LR-1420 to precisely tune the pot life and drying curve based on environmental conditions.
Tailored Mechanical Properties:
Elastic Systems: Combined with flexible curing agents, it achieves 400% elongation and 25 MPa tensile strength.
Rigid Topcoats: Blended with HDI trimers or rigid hardeners, it produces a 2H hardness film with extreme scratch resistance.
Compatibility: Fully compatible with most hydroxyl-functional acrylic resins and cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB).
Standard Packaging: Available in 200 KG drums.
Shelf Life: 12 months from the date of manufacture when stored in original, unopened, and sealed containers.
Storage Conditions: Maintain at temperatures ≤ 30°C in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area.
Compliance: Please refer to the LR-2850 Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed safety, handling, and regulatory information.
